I've been loving every game from the gmtk game jam this year, and UVSU was a delight! I don't delve into puzzle titles much but this made me want to explore a bit more.
Congrats on making top 20 in the GMTK Jam! I wanted to reach out to ask if anyone on the dev team would be interested in participating in an interview about your experience during the jam? Interviews are conducted over Discord and presented live on Twitch.
This is awesome, Self harm was a different kind of challenge, i feel proud of myself for figuring that one out so props to you who thought of making it in the first place
The mechanics of this game are simply unique and extremely smart, I loved the idea and had a lot of fun solving the puzzles, congratulations on the game, it's wonderful!
Very very fun, and the difficulty increase is steady enough to not be jarring, but it still gets very hard at the end.
One thing that would be really nice, would be an undo button, so you can undo the last round, even if you completed the goal. Especially in the last levels, I can beat it that round, but in a future round I won’t be able to, and thus undo button.
Unsure if ratings and reviews are seen by developers and mods, so I'm reposting it here!
"UVSU is absolutely ingenious! I must admit, I've never played- let alone heard of- a game like this before, and it truly is unique! The simple pixelated style won my heart almost immediately, as it allowed me to truly focus on outsmarting myself. In many modern games, indie or otherwise, I have noticed the tendency to overload the player (and developers!) with things to do- it often takes away from a straightforward story, which you have so generously shared with us. I particularly enjoyed the levels with far more iterations, as they caused me to think and rack my brain for a solution. (I'll admit, I restarted many many iterations!) Though that's not to say the other levels are worse- I found them complicated and enjoyable in their own way! I often saw myself stopping to think, "Alright, what should we do here?" when faced with the next level. Overall, I absolutely adore this game, and will be tucking it away for another early-morning brain strain session. Thank you again for publishing UVSU!"
the game started fine, but I can't move or press any of the buttons. I've tried clicking on the screen multiple times to focus it onto the game, but it just isn't working.
I seriously wish there was a way to change the controls, the game is pretty fun but it's so annoying having to press z of all buttons to jump. Wouldn't up arrow or space bar make more sense?
That'd be great, sorry if in my comment I came off a bit frustrated btw, but my brain kept messing it up. Having finished the whole thing now, I have to say this was some really good game design.
I noticed that no levels require the player to use the angel’s ability to shoot the imps. When replaying some levels, I forced the use of that mechanic by challenging myself to kill all existing imps during each angel round. I hope the expanded version has levels built around that mechanic.
The level Overwhelmed’s high round count made it exciting at first, but the level turned out to be disappointingly easy. I didn’t need to use most of the platforms – I just stood or jumped in a unique spot for most of the round’s time, then headed to the exit. I wish I had been forced to use more of the available space. In the expanded version, one mechanism for that could be having a tight time limit and scattering Extra Time powerups in the far corners of the level.

Can't wait for the steam release, this game has been great and I'd love to see more of this

i mean do say as an idea
cool how make your adventure with a twist if had horror
Great level design, it looks good and it's quite polished for a game jam game - impressive!
How do you beat the bottom left level?
The one where the demon is trapped
on iteration 1 you need to jump in such a way that if the platform wasn't there you would land in the spikes.
This is awesome, Self harm was a different kind of challenge, i feel proud of myself for figuring that one out so props to you who thought of making it in the first place
best jam game i have ever played
pretty good game loved everything
One person game, impressive especially with the complexity of the mechanics and puzzles, hands down!
What is the code for at the end?
thanks, but I didn't make the music!
And the code is a steam key to one of my games, but they were all claimed already long ago 😅
Still it's a big work, funny idea for the steam Key ^^
Great job. Enjoyed this!
lets begin for gameplay was still here
one of the most potential-filled jam games i remember playing in recent memory. this is incredibly cool and i will 100% be buying the full version :3
fantastic work!
I've included UVSU at 1:15:57 in a video covering the GMTK Game Jam.
this is really really good!
can you hint at the what the code at the end is for?
As written in the game description- its a steam key to one of my games. They were all claimed already though
oh

thanks! If you pause you can reset current iteration or go back iteration which is what you meant by undo I think
Ah, my bad I missed that, thank you
What a brilliant game!

Such a smart idea! Will definitely add to my steam wishlist, can't wait to see where this concept goes!

i'll update it to support up and space when i have the time!

Fun and well-polished game.
